Napkin Hire – Folds of Creation

Napkins can be arranged in many ways, from a simple fan, the knotted fold, the elegant scarf napkin, and the formal pocket napkin.  So how can you jazz up the napkin hire in your hotel/restaurant?

The Traditional

This is a classic with most restaurants and is easy to achieve with any kind of napkin.  Hire something that looks classically elegant so the final look works well.  This formation is done by pinching the napkin in the centre, fanning out the sides and securing with a ring. 

The Fan

This is a very popular fold, having stood the test of time with most restaurants.  Once you’ve got the technique, it is very easily applied. Lay napkins out flat and fold the left half over to the right, then apply accordion pleats from the bottom about ¾ of an inch wide.  Iron folds for sharper creases if desired.  This look works best with white linen. 

Graceful Roll

The rolled napkin looks extremely elegant and is ideal for weddings.  Fold into quarters and set on a diagonal, with the open edges at the bottom and begin rolling each side towards the centre.
